Finally finished Fable 2!

This is the version I gotI know this is supposed to be a very short game, but with my job as a teacher I barely have enough time to complete an RPG in a few days like you folks. So I chipped away at the game and today I finally finished it, yaaay. :)

Despite a few technical glitches, I thought the game ran great (as long as it’s installed) and it’s a lot of fun, even though it’s a little too easy. The story wasn’t as involving as I was hoping it would be, but there were some scenes that had me yelling profanities out loud… mainly when I got old and when my dog was killed. ****! How am I supposed to find the remainder of the keys?! Should’ve picked the middle option. >_< I honestly think that the game has too many side quests. I became so focused on getting these side quests done that I forgot abou Read more

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

98 Minutes | Bandai Entertainment | 13+

I had originally bought this movie a few months ago, but never made the time to watch it. Wanting to take a nice little break from television series, I felt the urge to watch this movie. Not to mention I was in the mood for an uplifting story. Originally, I knew almost nothing about the movie, which is probably why I liked it so much since it’s such a nice surprise. To keep it short and sweet, this is a romantic ‘dramedy’ of a girl who finds some mystical abilities to jump back in time and re-live desirable moments in her life, all the while she matures a little bit with each jump.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

The anime is beautiful and innocent. Its focus is not on sensuality and violence, but on graceful characterization and some quirky comedic moments. Above all though, it’s about finding what’s deeply locked inside a young girl’s heart. It’s a slow paced discovery into the inevitable maturation and romance blossoming between the protagonist, Makoto, and one of the guys. The journey there is what is most amusing, however. You’d never think that simply eating your favorite pudding over and over or avoiding previously made mistakes and accidents would eventually cause some major catastrophes for others, but such is the theme of the anime. Sometimes we don’t know the people we hurt around us when we’re just trying to have our way.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a short and sweet tale about the adolescent heart. While it may not have the wow factor many anime movies have, it does have memorable characters and a unique story. It’s heartwarming and bittersweet. Knowing very little about the anime helped me appreciate it more, and I realize I may be spoiling it for others, but I’d like to urge those that have never heard of it to give it a try. It’s good drama, comedy, and romance. I loved it.

P.S.
If the character designs seem familiar, it’s because they’re designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, known for his character designs in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

First Snow Storm for this Winter

We had a half day last Friday at work due to this snow storm and if it snows on Sunday night, we may have no school on Monday, which is always sweet. It took my brothers, sister, and I almost 2 hours to clear out the snow of the 3 vehicles we own. We may have to do it all over again on Sunday, arrgh. I thought I’d share some pics for the folks out there in Florida, Texas, or any tropical places. Check out what you’re missing!

A forced smile. My car... snowed in.

That’s me on the left with a forced smile. My car is on the right.

And that’s my beautiful mother on the right.

Looks like the coveted White Christmas may be happening this year after all.

They found my grandma has cancer.

My dad received the call last week, but just now it’s all been settled. She fainted in her room, when she was rushed to the hospital they found out she’s in the late stages of cancer –it’s spread out.

I already paid for his trip to Puerto Rico, he’s leaving in the morning. My dad and aunt decided not to give her chemotherapy (she’s 80) or to extended the inevitable, so the doctors sent her home to die. These past few days have been really tough for my dad, he hides it well, but it’s hitting him harder than the rest of us, obviously. First he had a surge of happiness when he started his new gig as a Spanish teacher at the high school (along with me), and now this. =/

Last time I saw my grandma was last year, after a 10 year hiatus. (We couldn’t take trips to PR or any place since we were always too broke.) I said last year, jokingly, this could be the last time we see her. I don’t think I really meant it, but it’s breaking my spirit. Whatever happens, I know I’ll be praying for spiritual and physical strength for my dad and aunt. They’re the ones that are going to deal with it directly.

What sucks is that when she dies, I don’t think my dad will be able to attend the funeral. I don’t know if he can take another week long absence this early in the school semester. This just sucks all around. If we lived in Puerto Rico it would be a lot smoother, but since we live in Massachusetts and they live in Puerto Rico… not many opportunities to visit and be of support.

Anyways, if anybody reading believes in the power of prayer, pray for my dad (Daniel Sr.) and my aunt (Sandra). They’re going to need it. Thanks.
