This is the official Anime General Board anime awards website. For members of the IGN Boards only!
Every year the members of the AGB gather (some unwillingly =P) to cast a vote for the anime they think were outstanding for that year. We've been doing these little anime awards for a little over 3 years now, with only the recent two being properly documented as I was the one organizing it all. This is the first year we're going to do it the right away though. No more votes via public polls, no more votes via PMs, no more hassles, etc. With the help of our resident PHP wizard, EyeballToothball, and myself we're going to do it the right away. With a proper login/validation process, anybody from the AGB will be able to vote for their favorite titles in mere minutes.
Also unlike previous years, we'll be holding nomination rounds. Previously we simply had a bank of almost a hundred titles and users would simply cast a vote by naming them under each category. The problem with this was it resulted in many awkward nominations and votes for each category. They were nominating/voting for a comedy under "Best Drama", some would simply leave a category completely in blank as they haven't seen any action titles, and so forth. Hopefully with proper nominations this year, things will go much more smoothly.
Once the voting rounds are up, I'll check the polls and see who the winners are then make a webpage (under the "Archive" section in this site) and then post it on the boards for impressions. I hope now that it will be easier to cast votes more people participate, unlike previous years.

Most of the nominations are now up. The Tie-Breaker thread has less than 12 hours left, so I'll be posting the remaining nominees tomorrow.
It looks like the polls will start on Monday. I'm thinking 2 weeks for voting should be more than enough.

Preparing early for the 2007 Awards. The theme for this year is BLUE! Like it? Good? Oh, you don't?? Well, that's too bad, I guess. The characters in the banner are Eureka and Renton from Bandai Entertainment's Eureka Seven. I'll be preparing the list for 2007 in the upcoming days. For now, I think the site is about ready to start again.

The 2005 Awards page is done. And so is most of the general tidy-up that Toothball did. All we're missing now is the display of the results when the polls are done, and fixing the dates. So by the end of this week the site will be ready to go live!

After spending a few hours with Toothball yesterday, we got most of the site up and running. It's magic I tell ya! Now we're just working on some minor things, but most of the site is ready to go. All I have to do now is put in every member, PM them with their password, and finish up converting the 2005 Awards into a more PHP compatible file (putting slashes before each quotation mark, a bit of monotonous work). After that, it's rockin' roll.
